More of a reed bed than a swamp! But critical habitat for bio-diversity. Looks good in the early winter sun too. |

Had a few minutes today so found this Northern Harrier sitting watching for prey. Great to watch as they swoop along the hedgerows. |

On a more serious note I came across this image which I took at Denver Zoo some time ago. After I re-processed it I really liked it especially the downbeat expression and the fence in the background telling a story of frustration and sadness. Sometimes we need to think about zoos and what they are doing, the pros and cons and whether that is the way of the future. |

Sometimes you see animals behaving in a way that just makes you laugh. These are big horn sheep saying something like "Oh my head hurts.." |

Unless I am very much mistaken this is a Canada goose that has become entangled in fishing line and drowned, how sad. Actually I was shocked to see what it was, when I took the shot I was under the impression that it was a rock with a snake skin lying on it and wanted to see it closer, only later when I examined the photo more closely did I realize what I was seeing. It would be easy to blame all fishermen, however as a fisherman in my youth if my line had become entangled in this snag I would have broken off the line and left it, who is going to swim out and clean it up? Yet look what it does to our wildlife. It's sad that animals have to suffer. I don't have an easy solution. Meantime I'll keep cleaning up any fishing line that I see. |

A windy dawn on Dream Lake with Hallett Peak overlooking. Some nice clouds did arrive at the last moment adding to the view. |
