Well good news we have found a beautiful house in the Scottish Borders overlooking the River Tweed, perhaps the best salmon fishing river in Europe. And in this area there are otters, ospreys, and other interesting creatures as well as stunning lowland scenery and friendly people.
We are excited to be moving to this location and can't wait until we get into the house.
More later.

Well you will have noticed that things are a little slow at the moment, we are moving home back (or is it back home?) to Scotland so photography is at a standstill right now until we relocate. When we get there of course there will be a whole new brand of photography available, gorgeous scenery, amazing animals, fantastic light. See you on the other side! |

I walked a nature area today and was surprised to flush an American Bittern, only the second one I've seen here and close to the place where I saw the first one last year. Then I found this female Oriole feeding close to the ground and tried to get close but she flew up into this tree. Only after looking at my photos later was I aware of all the Russion Olive trees which have invaded this area and need to be removed as they are non-native trees.

I was going through my Yellowstone photos and came across this one, and I love it as much today and I did then. It speaks to Springtime and regeneration and the future. Enjoy.

Usually its hard to get good photos of RWB but this one was very co-operative indeed and the light was good. |

An exciting day finding moose where we went to find a golden sunrise! A bit too exciting when I found myself between the bull and the cow and calves! But all ended well and I got great photos. You can find more in the Gallery, Fauna section. Enjoy |

Sometimes when you're busy pecking out a nesthole you just have to take a moment and have a good cough! Sawdust is so cloggy! This is the male of a pair of woodpeckers I watched today, busily excavating a nesthole. It's not easy being a bird you know!
His feathers get pretty messed up too with squeezing in and out of the tiny nest hole. Just for the record the female woody also takes turns at pecking out the hole, although she seemed a little confused about which hole it was, she spent time peeking into an adjacent hole before she started work on this one.

It's amazing that it's taken me 13 years to even see a badger here, back in the UK the badgers are more common and easier to spot. Also they look quite a bit different and are less aggressive. Anyway today was my lucky day. Lots more photos if you click here. |

The birds were all bathing busily this evening, out of all my shots I like this one the best. Such long beaks, such graceful birds.

As below was able to get very close to these birds and film them and watch them for a while, they are beautiful close up. This one has the ability to flex its beak, which I find amazing.
