Not a true rat of course, just a muskrat, vegetarian who lives in wet places, like a European water vole. They seem to be always eating. Fresh snow on the ground. Mink eat a lot of muskrats.

Ferruginous Hawks (named after their red colouration) are not very common and are probably declining in the US, so to see one and get some nice photos was a bonus today. If you are interested he was looking for a meal of prairie dog but was unsuccessful while I watched.

Ten minutes of bliss today as first a Red-tailed Hawk and then an eccentric Bald Eagle did fly-by's. The Bald Eagle was flying along and then going up and stalling and then flying on and repeating the move, very strange.

Went for a walk in the woods today and after yesterday's high winds no-one had been there before me, so I bumped into around 20 White-tailed Deer and several Red-tailed Hawks. The trail was icy though and I kept slipping. I also noted a second beaver dam had been built, they are busy... well... beavers I suppose!
