Male Great Spotted Woodpecker trying to really mess up my nice tree. The tree is now full of holes since I started hiding nuts in the branches, clearly that wasn't a good idea. Still it seems a fair trade to me.

Amazing red sky this morning reflecting in the river, as the sun rose through a gap in the clouds.

Once in a while there is a great sight of Venus and a Crescent Moon in the night sky together, this is one of them, very cool. This was exposed to show the light from Earth lighting the shadowed side of the moon.

Well it's a bit busy right now, great spotted woodpecker on the bird feeder this morning, recent visits by the local sparrowhawk, 2-400 whooper swans enjoying a feed of wheat shoots from the fields, flocks of greylag geese around, and lots of small birds in the garden now that winds have gone. This winter there was signs of waxwings though.

Here I am in England filming an american otter! This one is captive and has climbed six feet up a tree! Wonderful. Part of a family of three, a mother and twin girls. Watching them play and feed was the most fun I've had in ages. This was shot with a 55mm lens in low light, I was shooting over a glass screen.

The great thing about photography is that we all see different things! In this case there was an interesting shadow on the tree and it looked a bit like a lizard climbing the tree, imagine!

Master of the hover, the kestrel is always hunting over a piece of ground planted with young trees which presumably harbour a good selection of small mammals.
